Abdullah Suhad Najm is a distinguished Kanoun musician and educator with over 33 years of experience in the field of music. He began his academic journey in Baghdad, earning a Diploma in 1993 from the Institute of Musical Studies, where he specialized in the Kanoun. He later completed his Bachelors degree in Fine Arts, with a focus on Musical Arts, at the University of Baghdad in 2001. His academic credentials were recognized internationally, and in 2016, the Belgian authorities officially granted him an equivalence in Musical Studies.
Throughout his extensive career, Abdullah has held teaching and performance roles across several countries. He taught at the University of Baghdad and at various universities in Tunisia, contributed to cultural centers in Belgium, and performed at the Opera House in Kuwait. In 2025, he will join the prestigious Bayt Al Oud in the United Arab Emirates as a Kanoun instructor.
Abdullah is deeply committed to teaching the Kanoun academically to students of all ages and skill levels. Since 2010, he has developed and refined his own structured method for Kanoun instruction, a system that blends technical precision with a deep appreciation for the instruments rich heritage. His mission remains clear: to pass on his knowledge and passion for the Kanoun through dedicated, high-quality education.
