Gala Rizzatto, known mononymously as Gala, is an Italian pop singer and songwriter celebrated for her chart-topping 1990s hits Freed from Desire, Let a Boy Cry, and Come into My Life. These multiplatinum singles from her debut album reached the Top 3 across Europe, South America, Russia, and the Middle East, contributing to worldwide sales of over six million records.
Voted Best Female Singer of the Year in Italy by Musica e Dischi in 1996, Gala went on to win the Italian Dance Award in 1997 and earned international recognition, including a Diamond Award in France, Platinum in Benelux, and Gold in the UK. The same year, she was nominated for Best Dance Act at the MOBO Awards in London alongside The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Orbital, and won Best Foreign Artist of the Year at Midem in Cannes.
