Dr. Kaustuv Kanti Ganguli is a Hindustani classical vocalist, musicologist, and AI researcher, known for his distinctive artistry shaped by the Patiala gharana. A rare confluence of performer and scientist, his work explores the deep structures of music through both traditional training and contemporary inquiry. With performances across India and abroad, and academic contributions spanning music cognition and computational musicology, Dr. Ganguli embodies a new generation of musicians bridging heritage and innovation.
Initiated into music at the age of 4, he has continued his musical training with vocal maestro Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty as a scholar at ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. Kaustuv has been performing in various cities of India as well as abroad since the age of 12 in prestigious concerts such as the Dover Lane Music Conference (Kolkata), Arohee, Gharana GenNext, and Sur Sagar by Pancham Nishad, Suburban Music Circle (Mumbai), Art Music of India Festival (Barcelona, Spain), Swarmangesh, Serendipity Arts Festival (Goa), and recently a series of online concerts to name a few. Some of his accolades include ‘Scholarship to Young Artiste’ from the Ministry of Culture (2010), President’s Award for winning the All India Radio National Competition (2011), Scholarship from the National Center for the Performing Arts (2012), Gaanwardhan award, Pune (2018), ‘Yuva Gaandharva Puraskar’, Kankavli (2019), etc. Kaustuv is also an active academic, currently a Professor of Computing at Zayed University, UAE. His research interest includes artificial intelligence in music, with a focus on computational musicology. He envisions deeply exploring the pedagogy via scientific and humanistic ways and promoting experimental works on music production, analysis, and performance with a view to converging his knowledge in music and technology fronts.
