Mohamad Hamami

Mohamad Hamami is an internationally acclaimed violinist, composer, researcher, and recording artist whose career bridges performance, scholarship, and cultural preservation. Holding a Doctorate in Music (2021), Hamami combines academic expertise with artistic innovation, advancing contemporary practice while safeguarding the heritage of Arabic music.

In 2008, Hamami founded the SharQ Orchestra, serving as its conductor and artistic director. Under his leadership, the ensemble has become a platform for presenting orchestral works that highlight the richness and diversity of Middle Eastern traditions, merging them with global musical languages. Beyond performance, Hamami has played a pivotal role in cultural preservation by creating the first-ever archive dedicated to Arabic music, a groundbreaking initiative that secures and documents this heritage for future generations.

In 2022, Hamami was appointed Ambassador and Liaison Officer at the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTMD), where he fostered dialogue between musicians, scholars, and institutions worldwide.
